Your domain name is the public identity of your website and online business. A strong domain should be easy to remember, simple to type, and clearly associated with your brand. Because of this, choosing the right domain name is one of the most important first steps when launching an online presence.

As a Cyber Edge Hosting customer, you have access to all the tools you need to register, manage, transfer, and renew your domains from a single platform.

Registering a Domain

In addition to hosting services, Cyber Edge Hosting allows you to register domain names either during signup or later through your Client Area. Some hosting plans may include a free domain for the first year, depending on the package selected.

After selecting and configuring your hosting plan, you will be prompted to choose a domain name. Select Register a New Domain, enter your desired name, and choose an available top-level domain (TLD) from the list provided.

Once submitted, the system will check availability. If the domain is available, you can add it to your cart and complete the order. After account creation, the newly registered domain will be assigned as your primary domain by default.

You may also register additional domains at any time by logging into your Client Area and navigating to Domains β†’ Register a New Domain, then completing the same process.

Managing Domains

Registering a domain is only the first step. To ensure it resolves correctly, the domain must be properly configured and pointed to the correct server.

All domain management is handled through the Domains section of your Client Area. From there, you can view all registered domains and access tools to manage:

  • Nameservers

  • DNS records

  • Contact (WHOIS) information

  • Auto-renewal and expiration settings

To manage a domain, select it from the list and choose the appropriate action.

Nameservers

Nameservers determine where your domain points. If the domain was registered with Cyber Edge Hosting and linked to a hosting account, nameservers are typically configured automatically. If you are pointing the domain to another server or provider, you can update the nameservers manually.

Contact Information and Registrar Lock

Each domain has associated contact information stored at the registry level. It is critical that this information remains accurate, as it is used for ownership verification and important notifications.

To protect against unauthorized changes, domains are secured with a Registrar Lock by default. While enabled, contact details cannot be modified and the domain cannot be transferred or deleted. You must temporarily disable the lock before making these changes. It is strongly recommended to re-enable the lock once updates are complete.

Renewals

Domains are set to renew automatically by default to prevent service interruptions. You may change this setting to manual renewal if preferred, though automatic renewal is recommended to avoid accidental expiration.

Transferring Domains to Cyber Edge Hosting

You can transfer an existing domain from another registrar to Cyber Edge Hosting to manage everything in one place.

When a domain transfer is completed, the domain is automatically renewed for one additional year. In most cases, the transfer itself is free, and you only pay for the added registration year. If your hosting plan includes a free domain, the transfer may be completed at no cost.

Before initiating a transfer, verify the following:

  1. Expiration Date
Domain transfers can take up to two weeks. If the domain is close to expiration, consider renewing it with the current registrar before starting the transfer to avoid service disruption.

  2. Domain Lock
The domain must be unlocked at the current registrar, or the transfer will fail.

  3. Authorization (EPP) Code
Request the EPP or authorization code from your current registrar. This code is required to initiate the transfer.

Once these requirements are met, you can submit the transfer request through your Client Area.

What Happens if a Domain Expires?

If a domain expires, it does not immediately become unavailable to you. However, it will stop resolving, which means:

  • Your website will go offline

  • Email services tied to the domain will stop working

During the initial grace period after expiration, the domain remains in your Client Area and can typically be renewed at the standard rate.

Redemption Period

Approximately 30 days after expiration, the domain enters a Redemption Period. At this stage, the domain can still be recovered, but renewal requires a redemption fee, which can be significantly higher depending on the registry.

Deletion and Release

If the domain is not renewed during the redemption period, it is scheduled for deletion and eventually released back to the public for registration. In some cases, high-value domains may be retained and resold at a premium.

To avoid downtime, additional fees, or permanent loss of a domain, automatic renewal is strongly recommended.
